Atlantic Canada

AZAANEX in New Brunswick

New Brunswick’s three-city triangle — Moncton, Saint John and Fredericton — anchors our partner network in the province, with Moncton’s growth spurt making it one of Atlantic Canada’s busiest moving destinations. Affordability migration is real, and the trucks follow it.

The property mix runs from Saint John’s historic stock (character, and the wiring eras that come with it) to Moncton’s newer builds, with radon awareness deserving particular mention — parts of New Brunswick test among the highest in Atlantic Canada, and the province takes it seriously. So do we: testing is one of our most-arranged services here.

Cities and regions we serve in New Brunswick

Partner coverage for inspections, renovations and moving centres on Moncton, Dieppe, Saint John, Fredericton, Miramichi, Bathurst, Edmundston. Digital, connectivity and business services reach every address in New Brunswick identically, because our own team delivers them remotely from Toronto.

Local notes

Radon in New Brunswick is a documented, mapped reality — several regions test well above the national average. A winter-long test answers the question for your specific house; that’s the one that matters.

Older Saint John and Fredericton homes make electrical-era and heating assessments standard pre-purchase moves — and our BUILD partners quote the upgrades from the same report.

Fredericton and the Saint John River valley flood in spring; inspections there look at grading, sump systems and flood history, and renovations plan basement finishes accordingly.

Licensing, permits and regulators in New Brunswick

Who is allowed to do what differs by province, and it changes which professional we book and what the quote has to include. The rules that matter most for our work in New Brunswick:

Home inspectors

New Brunswick does not licence home inspectors. We book insured inspectors who belong to a recognised association and inspect to a written standard, and we name them before the visit. Heating-system and wiring-era checks are standard on older Saint John and Fredericton homes.

Renovations and permits

Building permits are issued by municipalities or, in unincorporated areas, by the Regional Service Commissions. Electrical work needs a permit and inspection through the province’s Technical Inspection Services and a licensed electrician; plumbing and gas are provincially regulated trades.

Moving

Movers are not separately licensed; commercial carriers follow the National Safety Code and consumer contracts fall under provincial consumer-protection law. Partner crews are insured and quote inbound lanes as consolidated loads.

Tenancies and taxes

Landlord–tenant matters go to the Residential Tenancies Tribunal at Service New Brunswick. Businesses charge 15% HST, filed to the CRA as a single return.

How booking works in New Brunswick

New Brunswick is on Atlantic Time, one hour ahead of Toronto, and we work in English or French by email. Inspections in the three main cities typically book within a few business days; northern centres depend on partner travel. Radon tests start best in autumn; inbound moves from Ontario and Quebec need two to four weeks for a firm window.

Frequently asked questions

How serious is radon in New Brunswick?

Serious enough that the province has mapped it: several regions, including around Fredericton and the Saint John valley, test well above the Health Canada guideline. A three-month winter test in your basement is the only answer that matters for your house.

Do you serve New Brunswick in French?

Yes — quotes, correspondence and websites in French or English, whichever you prefer.

Who issues building permits outside the cities?

The Regional Service Commissions handle planning and building permits for unincorporated areas; inside Moncton, Saint John or Fredericton the municipality does. We confirm which applies to your address before quoting.

Is moving to Moncton from Ontario expensive?

The lane is busy, which keeps consolidated-load pricing reasonable. We quote on weight and distance in writing, with a stated delivery window.

Do older Saint John homes need special inspection?

They need a careful one — knob-and-tube or aluminum wiring eras, oil heating, old foundations and roofs are standard checks, and our BUILD partners can quote upgrades straight from the report.
